I just got this offer from a major publisher, and I wanted to know what everyone thinks. This particular publisher is VERY well known, and distributes both domestic and internationally, for both U.S. and European artists.
"On our end we pay 10% royalty off retail on an advance of about half of 1st print run which is normally about 4000 on a retail price around $10. We might also be able to pre-serialize at $40 a page."
Being that I've never had a publishing deal before, I wanted to know the thoughts of my fellow artists. Thanks everyone!

Re: My First Offer
Tue, February 28, 2006 - 5:02 PMI don't know from publishing deals. I've always heard that if you're getting started, get published. You can always do better on the next book.
However, I STRONGLY suggest you hop over to www.tcj.com and join The Comics Journal message board where there's heaping bowlfuls of comics professionals. If you don't get all the answers you seek there and more, I owe you twenty bucks. Good luck.
So is it Pantheon? -
