Peter Bagge's newest is out. I wasn't all that happy with the art or the beginning of the story, until a face from the past popped up. I won't tell you who it is, but the character arc is similar to Butch's transformation from Neat Stuff to Hate. All of a sudden, I couldn't put it down. Of course it's a cliff hanger ending, so I'll have to wait another year to find out what happens next.

Mon, May 9, 2005 - 3:20 PMBy the end of Hate's initial run, the "mediocre filler" was what made it worth buying... same w/ the subsequent Hate annuals. Here's hoping he includes some Jim Blanchard or Rick Altergott stuff in this one, or an as-yet-undiscovered comix artist... say what you will about Bagge as a cartoonist, but he always did have a good eye for talent since his days as editor of Weirdo. -

Mon, May 9, 2005 - 4:59 PMThe mediocre filler is all Bagge. Big Jim Blanchard fan. Rick occassionally elicited a giggle or two. And yes, I agree about Pete's eye for talent. His Weirdo run is my favorite.
