Hey. In addition to being a huge graphic novel fan myself, I have a friend who loves them, and has a birthday coming up. What can you reccomend for a good one to give as a present? She adores Craig Thompson, Dave McKean, Neil Gaiman, Little Nemo, that sort of thing. What can you reccomend?

if she likes everything from neil gaiman to craig thompson, it sounds like she'll like just about anything you get her.

Yeah, I suppose that selection of authors really only suggested that she likes graphic novels in general. Ah well, I'm sure I'll find something.
      ^__^

I was just hoping somebody had just found something new they thought was super-awesome.

The "Maus" books are phenomenal. Joe Matt's "Peepshow" is hilarious. I recently read Chester Brown's "I Never Liked You" and was both laughing and moved.

I guess those are all pretty old, though...

Has anyone else read this book? What did people think?

I haven't read it yet, but the people I know who have seem rather lukewarm about it -- but they all seem to have *wanted* to love it, which is an interesting dynamic.

I like Michelle Tea's writing, and I like the illustrator (her name escapes me), so I'd imagine I'd want to love it, as well.

            Any thoughts?

hello - new here - unsure if this has been mentioned elsewhere but Kid Koala's "Nufonia Must Fall" novel w/ cd would be an interesting gift for anyone, more so if she works in an office and lives in a city...or likes Kid Koala...check the link for a flash trailer
