i was getting frustrated in my inking (see my other post about blue pencils). turns out that _part_ of my problem was the paper. I switched from some "comics paper" (made by Deleter) back to Brisol (2 ply smooth) and YES! my work immediately looked better. same tools (brush and pen with ink) but much better results.
I think the Deleter paper was made for markers or something. Markers look great on it. but the ink just soaked into it while at the same time erasing easily off it. not sure how that's possible, but it did.

Re: the importance of Paper
Mon, March 28, 2005 - 1:14 PMGood move to Bristol board. I use it with my work and couldn't be more happier. I use the smoothest or vellum finish type.
Good luck! -

Re: the importance of Paper
Tue, March 29, 2005 - 5:52 AMHey man... how are things? I agree.. the deleter stuff is more for makers than our standard pencil to ink stuff. I always use bristol and buy as much as can when it's on sale. Bluelinepro makes some great comic pages using Strathmore bristol but it's pricey.. I only use that for "finished" work.. Also, on the ink issue, I have had a lot of luck with speedball ink.. which is somewhat thick and lately have been using rapidograph drawing ink.. which is thinner but covers well and drys fast.
